Alabama basketball’s NCAA Tournament run continued in Newark, when the Crimson Tide turned in a record-breaking offensive performance on Thursday, beating BYU 113-88.
UA broke the all-time NCAA Tournament record for threes in a game, with 25. That broke a record of 21, set in 1990 by Loyola Marymount.
Mark Sears had 10 of them, which broke Alabama’s record as well, surpassing Jean Felix’s eight, set in 2006. As UA prepares to face either Duke or Arizona Saturday, here’s the highlights from the win.

16:48— Alabama is currently on an 8-0 run. The Crimson Tide leads 63-47 after Mark Sears hits a three to reach 25 points.

— Alabama leads 51-40 at the half. Crimson Tide finishes 17-of-34 from the field, 12-of-27 from three. Mark Sears leads all scorers with 17 points, and has made five threes on seven attempts.

3:40— Alabama leads 44-36. BYU has made five of its last six from the field, but the Crimson Tide’s shooting streak has continued. UA has made 12 three-pointers so far, and is 46% from beyond the arc.

10:43— After falling behind initially, Alabama leads 27-25. Mark Sears has 11 points and has started 3-for-4 from three. Aden Holloway has made two threes as well, while the Tide is being outrebounded 10-7 so far.
15:32— Cougars lead 13-12 at the first media timeout. BYU starts out 6-for-10 from the field, while Alabama begins 5-for-8. Crimson Tide has already turned the ball over three times.
