Alabama basketball’s NCAA Tournament run continued in Newark, when the Crimson Tide turned in a record-breaking offensive performance on Thursday, beating BYU 113-88.

UA broke the all-time NCAA Tournament record for threes in a game, with 25. That broke a record of 21, set in 1990 by Loyola Marymount.

Mark Sears had 10 of them, which broke Alabama’s record as well, surpassing Jean Felix’s eight, set in 2006. As UA prepares to face either Duke or Arizona Saturday, here’s the highlights from the win.

2nd half

0:00— Alabama wins 113-88. Sears leads all scorers with 34 points in a dominant offensive performance for the Crimson Tide.

3:23–At the under four-minute media timeout, Alabama leads BYU 103-83.

6:30–Alabama hits the century mark as Mark Sears knocks down his 10th 3-pointer of the game. Alabama leads BYU, 100-77.

7:14–Alabama has set a new record for 3-pointers in a game, breaking the 35-year-old record of 21 set by Loyola-Marymount set in 1990.

9:28— Crimson Tide leads 86-68. UA is fully in control now, BYU takes a timeout needing something special for a comeback.

11:58— Alabama up 75-61. Besides Sears, Holloway (15 points) and Omoruyi (10) are the other UA players in double scoring figures. Omoruyi also leads the Tide in rebounds, with six.

15:49— Tide is still up, 63-51 now.

16:48— Alabama is currently on an 8-0 run. The Crimson Tide leads 63-47 after Mark Sears hits a three to reach 25 points.

20:00— Second half is underway.

Halftime

— Alabama leads 51-40 at the half. Crimson Tide finishes 17-of-34 from the field, 12-of-27 from three. Mark Sears leads all scorers with 17 points, and has made five threes on seven attempts.

1st half

0:17— BYU takes a timeout late in the half. Alabama up 51-40.

3:40— Alabama leads 44-36. BYU has made five of its last six from the field, but the Crimson Tide’s shooting streak has continued. UA has made 12 three-pointers so far, and is 46% from beyond the arc.

6:18— Play stops as BYU’s Trevin Knell bleeds on the court. He was called for fouling Chris Youngblood on the proceeding play.

7:37— Crimson Tide up 35-30. Mark Sears up to 14 points, both teams have turned it over four times.

10:43— After falling behind initially, Alabama leads 27-25. Mark Sears has 11 points and has started 3-for-4 from three. Aden Holloway has made two threes as well, while the Tide is being outrebounded 10-7 so far.

15:32— Cougars lead 13-12 at the first media timeout. BYU starts out 6-for-10 from the field, while Alabama begins 5-for-8. Crimson Tide has already turned the ball over three times.
