CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fifteen years ago, Mike Young’s maiden conference tournament championship came in the Queen City. He’ll lead Virginia Tech to battle against Cal in that same building on Tuesday in the 2025 ACC Tournament.

It was Time Warner Cable Arena back then and Young’s Wofford club, paced by Cameron Rundles’ game-high 20 points off the bench, beat Appalachian State 56-51 for the Southern Conference title on March 8, 2010.

“Great, great, great memories,” Young told Tech Sideline in Charlotte on Monday. “That was the first of many. Lot of fun. …

“[Rundles] was a great player for me. … I can remember being here in 2010. Our bench was over there [pointing]. We played Appalachian State. They had a big post player, Isaac Butts. Buzz Peterson was their coach. … They were really good. Big crowd, as you might expect. App State has a lot of alums in Mecklenburg County.”
