LOS ANGELES — As expected after his right ankle took a 90-degree turn, Jalen Brunson was ruled out of Friday night’s game against the Clippers with a sprain and will miss at least two weeks.
X-rays were negative, and the Knicks were awaiting the results of an MRI from Friday.
It represented Brunson’s second DNP of the season and first since Jan. 1, when the point guard sat out with calf tightness.
With just about 80 seconds remaining in overtime of Thursday’s loss to the Lakers, Brunson was fouled on a drive and landed awkwardly on Lakers wing Austin Reaves.
He crumbled to the court but remained in the game to hit free throws before hobbling to the locker room.

The Knicks didn’t release a recovery timeline.
According to an expert sports medicine surgeon, there’s a large variance in healing time based on the severity.
“You have mild, moderate or severe. Or, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3,” Michael Ciccotti, MD, the Director of the Sports Medicine Team at Rothman Orthopaedics, told The Post. “The milder ones can be in that two-week period, maybe that three-week period. The moderate ones can be like 3 or 4 or 5 weeks. And the severe ones will be somewhere between 5 and maybe even 8 weeks for the most severe. But those are the ones that usually involve some degree of bone injure. And the X-rays reportedly didn’t show any bone injury.”

The Knicks went 1-4 last season without Brunson, who was replaced in the starting lineup for those games by Miles McBride.
This season, Brunson leads the Knicks in scoring, assists and usage rate — meaning they’ll have to find a different identity without him.
“It’s next man up,” Karl-Anthony Towns said. “He’s a huge part of our team as all y’all know. …Praying for him and we’re going to keep this team intact. And the way we’ve been playing all year, we’ve been playing with grit. Got to go out there and do it again.”
Mitchell Robinson, who returned last week from a 10-month absence, was ruled out Friday in the second game of a back-to-back for “injury recovery.”
The backup center has been on a minutes restriction that he said increases week-to-week.
Precious Achiuwa, who sat Thursday’s game with hamstring tightness, was listed as questionable for the Clippers matchup.
