Producer-price index settles down after recent runup

The numbers: Wholesale prices were unchanged in February, offering more evidence that inflation pressures eased somewhat after a recent runup.

The flat reading in the producer-price index — helped by lower energy costs — came in under expectations. Economists polled by the Wall Street Journal had forecast a 0.3% increase.
