‘It’s not about what I’ve done, it’s about what I’m going to do’: Maxx Crosby contract extension lays the foundation for Raiders moving forward

Maxx Crosby doesn’t envision his expectations for himself changing much after signing a multi-year contract extension Wednesday.

As the four-time Pro Bowler always likes to say – More is Required.

“It doesn’t change my approach … I’m still going to be here same time every single day and put the work in,” Crosby said. “That’s just a byproduct of the sacrifice that we do on a daily basis. So when I’m retired, whenever that day is, I’ll maybe go on a couple more vacations but for the time being I’m focused on being the best on the planet at what I do on-and-off the field. We have a lot to work. Obviously it’s a great honor … but my focus is on the day-to-day and that’s what I’m going to continue doing.”

It’s a well deserved deal for Crosby, who has led the team in sacks in five of his six seasons since being drafted out of Eastern Michigan in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. His 105 career tackles for loss are the most by any defensive linemen since he’s entered the league. He’s also done all of this while playing 5,226 snaps since 2019, the most of any defensive lineman in that span.

Many were in attendance for the press conference to announce the extension including team president Sandra Douglass Morgan, the Raiders defensive coaching staff, his wife Rachel and their daughter Ella Rose.

Sitting to Crosby’s left was General Manager John Spytek and to his right, Head Coach Pete Carroll.

“There’s no way we could find anybody that is more focused and directed and committed to giving everything that he’s got to every opportunity he’s going to get,” Carroll said. “For us to make this statement today, it’s like it fits perfectly. And we’re so proud to have Maxx be a part of the organization, but he knows that’s just the start of it.”
