Silent Hill F Reveals Story & Setting Details In New Trailer, & You Can Wishlist Now

Silent Hill F revealed details of its story, setting, and gameplay in a new trailer. First announced in 2022 in a mysterious teaser, fans have been waiting a long time for Silent Hill F. At the time, the franchise couldn’t have been in a worse place – with no new releases except for the occasional pachinko machine, all was quiet on the Silent Hill front. Since then, it’s since redeemed itself with the excellent Silent Hill 2 remake, but Konami hasn’t forgotten about its other projects, either.

During the Silent Hill Transmission, livestreamed on the evening of March 13, 2025, Silent Hill F got its first update in a long time, in the form of a new trailer and an extended interview with some of its creators that revealed further details of the game. Set in 1960s Japan, in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, it’s a departure from the usual Silent Hill fare in terms of story – but otherwise, its setting and themes appear to be right on point. The livestream also confirmed that Silent Hill F would be available the same night to wishlist on PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Silent Hill F Takes Inspiration From Classic Japanese Horror

(And Much, Much More)

Several members of the Silent Hill F team appeared during the broadcast in order to explain what influenced the game. First, there was Ryukishi07, the game’s scriptwriter, who helped explain a little more about the plot of Silent Hill f. Its setting, though fictional, is heavily based on the real-life city of Gero, located in the Gifu prefecture. It follows a young girl named Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life is upended when a mysterious fog suddenly rolls into town. The fog changes her world into a waking nightmare, and she’s forced to fight to survive.

RelatedComments by developers of the original game have sparked some debate about this iconic scene, and it could mean more than players think.

Gameplay of Silent Hill F will involve combat and puzzles – pretty typical Silent Hill fare. In one piece of concept art shown during the broadcast, Shimizu is seen clutching a bent lead pipe, markedly similar to those used by many a Silent Hill protagonist. Beyond that, we don’t know much about how it’ll play – it’s not clear how much of the trailer is actual gameplay footage, and I wouldn’t be surprised, at this early stage, if the answer were “none.”

It’s worth noting, however, that this does not appear to be part of Bloober’s ongoing collaboration with Konami. Silent Hill F is being developed by Neobards, a Hong Kong-based studio that previously worked on the Resident Evil 3 remake.
