KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chance McMillian and Darrion Williams have each been ruled out for the ninth-ranked Texas Tech basketball team’s Big 12 Conference tournament semifinal game against Arizona on Friday night.
McMillian missed the second half of Thursday’s quarterfinal win over Baylor with what Tech classified as an “upper body strain.” The 6-foot-3 super-senior guard played 13 minutes in the first half but missed all three of his shot attempts to finish with no points for the first time this season.
Williams and McMillian will both be missing their third games of the season. Williams is sporting a boot on his right leg during in the T-Mobile Center. Forward Eemeli Yalaho also remains out.

Williams has been dealing with a right leg injury for the last few weeks and appeared to aggravate it in Thursday’s quarterfinal. He checked out multiple times and gutted it out but was limited in his effectiveness.

Named a second team all-Big 12 selection, McMillian was averaging 14.7 points and 4.2 rebounds on the season entering the conference tournament, hitting 44.2% of his 3-point attempts and 53.1% of all shots during his final collegiate season.
Williams was named a first team all-conference performer and averages 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and shoots 36.5% from 3. This will is the second year in a row Williams has been ruled out for the tournament semifinals. In last year’s tourney, he suffered an ankle injury in the quarterfinals and missed the next game against Houston.
The Red Raiders (25-7) face the Wildcats around 8:30 p.m. in the semifinals. The winner advances to play Houston in the championship on Saturday.
