Reaction to Clemson’s seeding, matchup with McNeese State March Madness 2025

Clemson is officially dancing, earning a No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers will open against No. 12 seed McNeese State on Thursday in Providence, looking to build on last year’s deep run. After setting program records with 27 total wins and 18 ACC victories, Clemson enters the tournament ranked No. 10 in the latest AP Poll—its highest pre-March Madness ranking ever.

Brad Brownell’s team has won 18 of its last 21 games and finished second in the ACC, marking the program’s best regular-season conference finish since 1990. Led by Chase Hunter, Ian Schieffelin, and Jaeden Zackery, the Tigers will look to bounce back from a tough loss to Louisville in the ACC Tournament semifinals and make another deep postseason run.

McNeese, coached by former Clemson grad assistant Will Wade, finished 27-6 and won the Southland Conference. If the Tigers advance, they could face Purdue or High Point in the second round.

With momentum from a record-breaking season, Clemson is poised to make noise in March once again. Here’s a look at how social media reacted to Clemson’s placement in March Madness.

So let me get this straight:Louisville and Clemson were right next to each other in the NET rankings, the Cardinals won both matchups, but the Tigers got a 5 seed and Cards got an 8?

Like what are we doing here bro😂😂😂

Duke is not the No. 1 overall seed and Louisville ranked too low. Once again, ACC disrespect.

Why does a No. 6 seed seem like the case now for us?

I’m pretty sure the second win over Clemson did nothing for Louisville. What a waste of energy.
