New York Jets News: Derrick Nnadi signs with Jets

Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets continued to add depth to the team yesterday. Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi is the latest bargain basement addition to the Jets’ roster. As this offseason has worn on an obvious pattern has emerged to the Jets’ signings. The Jets’ additions in free agency are almost all bargain basement stopgap players, and none are over 30 years old. They will hold the fort until the Jets are in a position to upgrade. If more than one or two are even on the roster in 2027 it will be a surprise. It’s possible multiple guys signed won’t even make it to the opening day Jets roster this season. It’s not an exciting strategy, and the Jets certainly aren’t “winning the offseason”, but that’s kind of the point. When the Jets “win the offseason” they tend to lose their future. Hopefully the opposite outcome will be the result of the new Jets regime’s approach to free agency. They’ll need to do well in the draft over multiple offseasons. We’ll see if they’re up to the task over time.
