Bears NFL Draft 2025: Chicago selects Kyle Monangai, RB, Rutgers

With the 233rd pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have finally selected a running back! Kyle Monangai from Rutgers will compete for snaps in 2025 in Ben Johnson’s offense.

Monangai (5’8’’ 211 pounds) has never fumbled in his collegiate career over 707 combined rushes and receptions. He led the Big 10 with 256 carries in 2024 (1,279 rushing yards) and led the conference with 1,262 yards in 2023 (on 242 carries).

Scouts laud his contact balance, quickness, and ability as a pass blocker, but he doesn’t have breakaway speed (4.6 forty). He didn’t have many opportunities as a receiver in college (14 catches in 2024), but that’s more due to their offense than a lack of ability. He should be a nice third-down option in the NFL.

We’ll record an immediate reaction podcast about the selection, so check that out right here as soon as it publishes from our 2nd City Gridiron channels.
