The Buffalo Bills are bringing back some familiar depth at running back. Originally a third-round pick (No. 93 overall) by the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL Draft, Darrynton Evans has bounced around the league as a depth option and practice squad player.
Evans’ stints in Buffalo the last two preseasons gave him a chance to showcase some flashes on the gridiron. Injuries hampered his progress, but the Bills clearly saw something in Evans to give him another shot in 2025.
Evans briefly spent time with Buffalo last season after signing a futures contract, but an injury prevented him from making the roster. He was eventually released once his Injured Reserve window closed in October of 2024. Prior to that, he had multiple stints with both the Miami Dolphins’ (practice squad) and Chicago Bears.
Evans’ return to One Bills Drive will likely have him competing for a depth role or a practice squad spot again in 2025. His signing should not heavily impact the Bills adding to the running back room via free agency and/or the draft — nor will this preclude Buffalo from bringing back Ty Johnson after he has had a chance to see what free agency offers him.
Do you see Evans as just a camp body, or do you believe he has a legitimate shot to stick around this time?
