ST. LOUIS – Seeking to put a highly disappointing San Francisco series behind them, the Milwaukee Brewers continue their longest road trip of the season with the first of three games against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Friday night, April 25.
Milwaukee starts surprising right-hander Chad Patrick (1-1, 2.11) while St. Louis counters with left-hander Matthew Liberatore (1-2, 3.60).
A troublesome fourth inning
Patrick and Liberatore each posted three innings of two-hit, shutout baseball heading into the fourth.
Garrett Mitchell, who started in center, was forced from the game at that point due to left oblique tightness. That left the Brewers to shift Jackson Chourio to right, Sal Frelick to center and insert Isaac Collins in left.

Patrick started the fourth by walking Brendan Donovan. Nolan Arenado singled him to third and Donovan scored a batter later on a sacrifice fly to right by Nolan Gorman. Chourio’s throw home was in time, but a tad too far to the first-base side of the plate as Donovan slid in head-first ahead of the tag attempt by William Contreras.
