Former NBA player and certified hater of San Antonio, Charles Barkley, is doubling down on an old joke about women in the city. In front of thousands, Barkley praised the city but finished his speech by saying, “Yes, y’all got some big b*tches here.”
Barkley — who played in the NBA from 1984 to 2000 and was part of the iconic NBA on TNT crew — commented on San Antonio women while on stage at the March Madness festival on Sunday, April 6. As he was speaking, he was greeted with boos. However, the crowd warmed up to him after he called San Antonio a “great city” and voiced how he loves San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and the team.

After he reiterated the years-long joke, some of the crowd laughed, while others booed, according to a video posted by TikToker itsashleyadamsmf. In the comments, many locals agreed and laughed with him. TikTok user sandman wrote, “You can call him everything except a liar.” However, some asked the former NBA player to stop.
“Charles barkley leave us alone,” meg wrote.
“Don’t do us like that Chuck,” username_unknown456 wrote.

Barkley’s comments aren’t surprising, as he has made the joke countless times. In 2021, he commented on “big women” in San Antonio not being able to fit through a door. In 2019, he compared “skinny Houston women” to “big a** women in San Antonio.” He also called the popular River Walk a “dirty, little creek” in March 2023 when discussing the possibility of Victor Wembanyama being drafted by the San Antonio Spurs. In February 2024, Barkley defended his well-publicized opinions on the size and weight of women during a podcast episode with Stephen A. Smith.
