Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025: Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a magical moment on the field to get the better of Devdutt Padikkal during the Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match in the IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Padikkal looked in great touch and played a promising knock of 27 runs in just 14 balls on the back of two fours and as many sixes before Gaikwad took a remarkable catch inside the circle to end the left-handed batter’s stay at the crease. His dismissal was the second wicket for CSK, who opted to field first after winning the toss.

The instance took place in the eighth over of RCB’s innings when Padikkal hit a shot towards the cover region aiming to pierce the gap and find a boundary.
However, Gaikwad placed himself brilliantly there, but initially it seemed that the ball would bounce just in front of him. The CSK captain did well to produce an incredible dive forward and ended up taking a screamer well above the ground.
Meanwhile, the five-time IPL champions CSK had a disappointing outing on the field as they dropped multiple catches and allowed RCB to post a huge total of 197/7 in their 20 overs.
Skipper Rajat Patidar was the top run-getter for his side, playing a 51-run knock in just 32 balls on the back of four boundaries and three sixes. For CSK, Noor Ahmad was once again the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets for 36 runs in his four overs with Matheesha Pathirana also finding a couple of scalps.
Both teams headed into the match on the back of wins in their respective first games of the ongoing tournament. CSK defeated their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at home, whereas RCB got the better of the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
