Disney’s stock is a drag on the Dow as travel fears ripple

Walt Disney Co.’s stock is one of the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s biggest losers Tuesday as cautious comments from airlines ripple across the travel sector.

Disney’s stock was down 4.4% in midday action, trailing all others in the Dow Jones Industrial Average except for Verizon’s, which was down 7.1%. The decline in Disney shares was shaving 28 points off the Dow.

United Airlines Holdings Inc. Chief Executive Scott Kirby mentioned “some low-end consumer-leisure weakness” at an investor conference Tuesday, while Southwest Airlines Co. CEO Bob Jordan mentioned “a broad softness in the macro economy” as the company cut its outlook for the first quarter.
