Dolphins signing former Buccaneers LB to 1-year deal, per report

The Miami Dolphins are signing former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker K.J. Britt to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Britt, 25, was a fifth-round pick for Tampa Bay in the 2021 NFL draft and stepped into the starting lineup for 11 games during the 2024 season after mostly working as a backup and a special teamer in his first three seasons. In four years with the Buccaneers, he recorded 126 tackles, four for a loss, with 0.5 sacks and three pass breakups.

The Dolphins have overhauled their linebacking corps in the last year, adding Jordyn Brooks during the 2024 offseason and scooping Tyrel Dodson off waivers in November. Miami cut ties with David Long Jr. after adding Dodson to the roster and they allowed Anthony Walker Jr. to leave as a free agent this week.

Coincidentally, Walker is joining the Buccaneers on a one-year deal, essentially making him Tampa Bay’s replacement on the roster for Britt.

Terms of both Britt’s deal in Miami and Walker’s deal in Tampa Bay haven’t been reported.
