First Alert Weather Day: Storms moving in this morning, severe possible

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Rain and storms will be likely across north Georgia. Isolated severe storms are also possible.

The tornado watch has now expanded to include metro Atlanta until 7 PM. This means that isolated tornadoes are possible for metro this afternoon and evening.

Storm timing:

The main line of storms will move into West Georgia between 8-9 AM. Along this line of storms you can expect damaging wind, heavy rain, and the potential for an isolated tornado.

Storms move into metro and downtown Atlanta between 11 AM – 1 PM. Isolated severe storms still possible.

South of the I-85 corridor will be impacted from the early afternoon into the evening. The front is expected to stall across the area tonight into tomorrow.

The severe threat should come to an end around 8 PM, but rain will continue into Monday.

The risk for flash flooding increases this morning. Anywhere between 1-4 inches of rain will fall within 24 hours. Localized street flooding will be possible, so you’ll need to drive carefully going back to work ad school tomorrow.
