Giants signing QB Jameis Winston to two-year, $8 million deal

Taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston is now set to join his fourth franchise. He’s played five seasons for the Bucs, four with the New Orleans Saints and last year for the Cleveland Browns.

Winston, who led the NFL with 5,109 yards and 30 interceptions in 2019, has compiled a 36-51 record through a decade in the league with 24,225 passing yards, 154 touchdowns and 111 interceptions.

The 31-year-old can still make some of the best throws in the game, right along with some of the worst. Winston completed 61.1% of his passes last season for Cleveland, throwing for 2,121 yards in 12 games with 13 TDs and 12 INTs.

In the offseason, Winston’s made it known that avoiding critical errors is an aspect of his game he’s working to fix.

At this point, that seems unlikely, but Winston can provide some excitement and a chance for victory in doses.

Just how impactful a role he plays for Big Blue going forward remains to be seen, but Jameis is going to New York.
