Jamal Murray reveals why he literally lifted Norman Powell from ground during playoff game

During the second game between Nuggets and Clippers in the opening round of the Western Conference postseason, two players became briefly entangled.

Denver’s Jamal Murray and L.A.’s Norman Powell got a little upset with each other in the third quarter. Powell briefly pushed Murray when the two were off the ball, then James Harden passed the ball to Powell later in the offensive possession.

But once Powell actually attempted to dribble, Murray briefly got his revenge against his opponent when he literally picked him up and lifted him up from off the ground. This is, of course, not something you see very often:

Teammates from both sides rushed in to defend the other before a brief scuffle ensued on the court.

During his postgame press conference, Murray was able to provide a little bit of context for what actually happened in this intense moment.

Here is what Murray said:

“Just competing, man. I have nothing against Norman, man. He has nothing against me. We’re just competing and we got into it for a second. But we’re good, though … We have nothing against each other. We respect each other. Just didn’t like what we both did on the court, and that’s fair.”

Officials just ruled this as a common foul, not a technical, and the game continued without much punishment.
