Lions reportedly lose G Kevin Zeitler to Titans

The Detroit Lions will have a new right guard in 2025. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kevin Zeitler is signing a one-year, $9 million deal with the Tennessee Titans after spending just one season with Detroit.

Last year, the Lions signed Zeitler to a one-year, $6 million contract, so this is a significant raise for the former Pro Bowl offensive lineman. Zeitler stepped into a starting role at right guard in Detroit, played 16 games, and finished the season as PFF’s third-best guard for the entire 2024 season (86.8 grade).

It’s unclear where the Lions go from here. Their 2024 sixth-round pick Christian Mahogany was able to make some spot starts in replacement of Zeitler and showed he can hang in the NFL. Additionally, the Lions still have Graham Glasgow under contract, and he has performed best when on the right side. It’s entirely possible Mahogany and Glasgow are the Lions’ two starting guards for the 2025 season.

However, the Lions would also be wise to consider adding competition to the position moving forward, whether that be in free agency or the NFL Draft. Former Cardinals guard Will Hernandez is still an option out there in free agency, as is former Jaguar Brandon Scherff. The 2025 NFL Draft is thick with guard prospects.

We know the Lions value their offensive line, so the expectation should be for Detroit to address Zeitler’s loss in whatever way they can.
