Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 coming next week

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Monster Hunter Wilds has gotten off to a fantastic start, with the game making Capcom history by selling 8 million copies in just three days. In the weeks since its launch, players have started to get to the end of the offerings in the base game — but thankfully, Capcom has some new content coming very soon.

Capcom just held a presentation showing off its upcoming Title Update 1, the first major update to the game that’s set to bring a huge laundry list of activities for players to check out. New monsters, a new minigame, and a host of new quests to complete are all on the list for Title Update 1, which is rolling out in a few different phases.

The first phase of Title Update 1 is coming on April 3, 2025, and brings with it the fearsome Mizutsune, a watery monster that appeared in Monster Hunter Generations and Monster Hunter Rise. The update will also include a repeatable hunt for Wilds’ final story monster, Zoh Shia, which was previously only fought once just before the credits rolled. Players will be able to complete a quest that allows them to fight it multiple times, with new armor for the creature available to craft.

The first wave will also bring the long-awaited Grand Hub, a new form of the Gathering Hub that will allow players to hang out, play minigames, and party up for missions ahead. It also looks like you’ll be able to order special meals in the Grand Hub, presumably prepared by singing cats — a fan favorite feature from prior games.

The second phase comes on April 22 and runs until May 6, and introduces the first seasonal event, the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance. During these events, the Grand Hub will change its decorations and meals, and players will be able to obtain special outfits and decorations.

The third phase, running from April 29 to May 20, introduces the first Arch-tempered monster to the game, a much more powerful version of Rey Dau, the apex predator of the Windward Plains. Capcom says monsters like the Arch-tempered Rey Dau will “provide the ultimate challenge as the strongest beasts of nature,” so players can look forward to tackling the terrifying beast.

Finally, at the end of May, the final phase will be released with an update to the game. We don’t know much about this phase of the update, but it will include a collaboration with another Capcom property – likely in the form of special armor – and “other additional features.”

Capcom also announced that Title Update 2 will be released at some point during the Summer, with at least one additional monster and a new seasonal event set to be added to the game.
