UNDATED (WKRC) – Trader Joe’s was alerting customers about a recall of approximately 61,500 glass bottles of sparkling water due to potential cracking or damage, posing a laceration hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday, affecting Gerolsteiner bottles sold in 12 states from Dec. 27, 2024, to Jan. 28, 2025.
The states involved in the recall were Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. The water, manufactured in Germany, was sold for about $3.00 per 750-milliliter bottle, either individually or in cases of 15.
Trader Joe’s stated that the issue was identified through research related to bottle breakage during production, potentially affecting 1% of bottles with specific lot codes. The retailer advised, “If you have bottles with either lot code, please do not use them. We urge you to dispose of them carefully and go to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”

The CPSC noted that customers must return the bottles from the affected lots to the store where they were purchased to receive a refund, either in cash or credit, without needing proof of purchase.
