RDU adds nonstop flights to Bahamas, Grand Rapids and Philadelphia

Avelo Airlines on Tuesday a nonstop international flight to Nassau, Bahamas, from Raleigh-Durham International Airport and two domestic routes to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Philadelphia.

The routes will run twice weekly on a Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

  • Service to Nassau begins June 11 with twice weekly service on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Service to Grand Rapids begins May 23 with twice weekly service on Fridays and Mondays.
  • Service to Philadelphia begins May 22 with twice weekly service on Thursdays and Sundays.

Last month, Avelo began its first international nonstop routes from RDU to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

“We are proud to welcome three new destinations to our route map as Avelo grows along with RDU and the Triangle region,” RDU Airport Authority President and CEO Michael Landguth said. “The addition of Nassau service sets a new record for the number of international cities RDU serves and provides more options than ever before for travel outside the U.S.”

In February, Breeze Airways announced five nonstop flights from RDU.

The new destinations include Pensacola, Florida; Memphis, Tennessee; Orlando, Florida; Rochester, New York; and Albany, New York.
