Severe storms cause significant damage across eastern Nebraska

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Severe weather carrying large hail and powerful winds caused significant damage across eastern Nebraska on Thursday night.

Large hail slammed the cities of Fremont and Blair, while a tornado touched down just north of Omaha, near Florence, about seven miles east of Bennington.

Several First Alert 6 viewers submitted photos and videos of damage to their homes and vehicles.

Strong winds kicked up a dust cloud big enough to force drivers to pull off Highway 30 near Rogers and North Bend as concerns grew about a potential tornado in that area. A tornado warning was issued for Dodge County at about 6 p.m.
