Sleepy Bruins lose fourth straight, a rout in Vegas sinking them deeper out of the playoff picture

LAS VEGAS — Adin Hill had The Fortress on lockdown.

Hill made 18 saves to lead the Golden Knights to a 5-1 win over the Bruins Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena, affectionately known as The Fortress by the locals.

As most of New England slept, the Bruins’ offense remained in its season-long slumber, unable to consistently generate Grade A chances on Hill. Morgan Geekie scored the lone Bruins goal late in the third period for his 20th of the season.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored a pair of second-period goals and one in the third to pace the Vegas offense.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Bruins, who fell below .500 (30-31-9) and deeper out of the crowded Eastern Conference playoff picture.

Jeremy Swayman made 27 saves, including several spectacular stops, but could only hold off the Pacific-leading Knights (40-20-8) for so long.

Boston’s five-game trip continues with back-to-back weekend games in San Jose (Saturday) and Los Angeles (Sunday).
