In the 18th season of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to face challenges with their batting performance. After astonishing everyone by scoring 286 runs in their first match of the season, expectations were high that they would soon cross the 300-run mark. However, that initial success appears to have created pressure that has since hindered their performance. The Sunrisers team is now struggling to even reach the 200-run milestone, raising concerns over their batting depth.
In today’s match against Gujarat Titans, held at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad, the Sunrisers’ batting faltered again, providing yet another example of their inconsistency. After Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to score only 152 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, reaching the total with considerable difficulty.
Among the batters, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored the highest with 31 runs. Heinrich Klaasen added 27 runs, while captain Pat Cummins remained not out at 22 runs off 9 balls. Aniketh Verma contributed 18 runs, and Ishan Kishan scored 17. Openers Travis Head (8) and Abhishek Sharma (18) failed to deliver once again. Kamindu Mendis, who batted in the lower order, was dismissed after scoring just 1 run.
On the bowling front, Mohammad Siraj stood out for Gujarat Titans by taking 4 wickets. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore claimed 2 wickets each.
As the match was held in Hyderabad, leading Tollywood actor Victory Venkatesh attended the game at the Uppal Stadium. Known for his lively presence and enthusiastic cheering, he was seen waving a flag during the occasional boundaries. However, the usual excitement was absent from his face, and he appeared disappointed as wickets kept falling in quick succession.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise owner Kaviya Maran was also present at the venue. Television visuals showed her visibly disheartened, as the highly paid players she had invested in continued to perform poorly.
