The Tennessee Titans found their replacement for punter Ryan Stonehouse awfully quick.
The Titans are expected to sign punter Johnny Hekker, a four-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro who has been in the league for 13 seasons, a source confirmed to The Tennessean on Tuesday.
This comes just hours after news broke that the Titans would not be tendering Stonehouse — the team’s punter of the past three seasons who broke records for average yards per punt in 2022 and 2023 — and would let him test free agency.
Signing Hekker makes sense for the Titans, as he spent the first eight years of his career playing under the tutelage of Titans special teams coordinator John Fassel. Hekker played the past three seasons in Carolina, averaging 42.7 net yards per punt and landing more than 37% of his kicks inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. His touchback percentage was among the lowest in the NFL in 2024 as well.

Hekker joins a Titans special teams unit that also features Pro Bowl long snapper Morgan Cox. The Titans have not re-signed kicker Nick Folk yet. A source told The Tennessean that the team is waiting through the kicker market and is open to bringing back Folk if a reunion can be managed.
