Thompson hat trick leads Sabres over Bruins

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) – The Sabres came back from two goals down, to double up the Bruins for a 6-3 win Sunday night. Tage Thompson lead the way with a hat trick, while Rasmus Dahlin and Alex Tuch both scored a goal and assist in the victory.

The Bruins took the early lead as Elias Lindholm crashed the net on a feed from David Pastrnak just 3:37 into the game. Boston extended the lead to 2-0 later in the first with a goal from Morgan Geekie.

Tage Thompson finally got the Sabres on the board midway through the second period as he slammed home a loose puck in front of a rebound.

Just minutes later Buffalo would tie it up 2-2 as Alex Tuch scored his 33rd of the season on a deflection in front off a shot from Rasmus Dahlin.

Boston took the lead back again on the power play, with Casey Mittelstadt making it a 3-2 game. The Sabres came right back though, with Rasmus Dahlin tying it up again less than two minutes later.

Buffalo got their first lead of the night just two minutes into the third period as Jason Zucker snapped a wrister that bounced off Joonas Korpisalo and into the net.

Moments later, it was Tage Thompson getting his second of the night as he broke in alone and roofed a backhand to give the Sabres a 5-3 lead.

The score remained the same until the final minute of regulation as the Bruins pulled their goaltender, and Tage Thompson would cap off the night scoring a hat trick to make it a 6-3 win over the Bruins. It would be his second hat trick of the season, both coming against Boston.
