Welcome to Broncos Country, Talanoa Hufanga!
The Denver Broncos agreed to terms on a three-year contract with the veteran safety on Monday. The deal will not become official until the NFL’s new league year begins on Wednesday, but the Broncos are on the verge of giving their secondary a big boost.
Here’s a sampling of how fans and pundits reacted to the news on Twitter/X.
S Talanoa Hufanga to the #Broncos…
Injury history. When healthy, he’s a natural disruptor. At his best in defined coverage schemes that allow him to play top-down on the ball/roam the front. Can blitz/create backfield chaos.

3 yrs 45 million for Talanoa Hufanga….
Sounds like a steal to me.

Talanoa Hufanga is in line to be the #Broncos other starting safety alongside Brandon Jones. P.J. Locke was the starter last season but was inconsistent. Hufanga was a first-team All-Pro in 2022 with 49ers but has battled injuries since then.

Broncos are close to signing Talanoa HufangaWould be great17GP in the last two seasons but in 2023, he allowed -11.3 target EPA through Week 11 which ranked him 6th among safeties
In 2022, allowed -5.3 receptions over expected as nearest defender – 2nd best among safeties pic.twitter.com/mMVPP2iVyc

Bro, if we can lock up Talanoa Hufanga, Dre Greenlaw, and Evan Ingram, this would be a great start to Broncos free agency.

The Broncos are closing in on signing 49ers FA Safety Talanoa Hufanga
26-years old, solid all around with tone-setting tackle ability and flashes elite ball hawk ability. Pairing Hufanga with Brandon Jones would be huge in the Denver secondary.pic.twitter.com/l2AmjvK84S https://t.co/7loT1bNl5e

Broncos’ secondary:Pat Surtain IITalanoa HufangaRiley MossBrandon JonesJa’Quan McMillian
Arguably the best in the NFL.

Man. The Hufanga signing comes with plenty of caveats about injuries, etc. But when I looked at that Broncos’ defense, all I wanted is a little more chaos and F— you energy through the spine. And I’d say today has delivered on that. https://t.co/8x6hNHmOfT

Gotta love the Broncos day. Adding Dre Greenlaw and Hufanga (both should be very good in their roles there) and re-signing DJ Jones.

Broncos entered the offseason with two weaknesses on defense, linebacker and safety, and they addressed both with two very good players.
Love to see it!

Sean Payton talks often about the team’s training and nutrition staff, led by Beau Lowery, and how it contributes to fewer games missed.
It’s part of why the Broncos can take calculated risks on players coming off injuries like Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw.

I would argue that no NFL Team improved their roster today more than the Denver Broncos.
If you don’t believe me, I challenge you to ask your 49er friends about the difference in their defense with Hufanga AND Greenlaw vs without either one or both…

Every fan base gets excited with all the free agent moves… but we’ll see how it works out. That being said.. what the @Broncos and @ChicagoBears have done I really find intriguing
