The Florida Atlantic men’s basketball team extended its stay in March Madness another day. Next up in the American Athletic Conference tournament is a quarterfinal showdown with Tulane.
FAU (18-14, 10-8 in AAC) held off Charlotte in Thursday’s second-round game 64-59. Center Matas Vokietaitis led both teams with 17 points and seven rebounds. Baba Miller chipped in 13 points, while Tre Carroll had 12 for first-year Owls coach John Jakus.
Tulane (18-13, 12-6) will play its first game in the AAC tournament after earning the conference’s No. 4 seed. The Green Wave won their previous meeting with the Owls, an 80-65 victory Jan. 15. Forward Kaleb Banks put up 25 points in that game, while guard Rowan Brumbaugh added 20.

Florida Atlantic vs. Tulane in the AAC tournament quarterfinals is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. Friday, March 14. The game will begin about 30 minutes after the conclusion of Wichita State vs. Memphis.
